OUR STORY
The Importance of Empowerment and Community
Founded in December 2020, we formed after finding out about a racist attack that happened outside Edinburgh University Library towards an Eastern Asian student. This felt like the straw which broke the camel's back, after a year of feeling the tangible increase of hate crime towards the East and Southeast Asian community in Edinburgh on top of the already existing marginalisation and silencing of the community as a whole.
After realising that many people have shared very similar experiences living here in the UK, as well as having the same shared horror, frustration and anger, we decided to create this community to allow people to come together as a collective.

Hopefully with time, this will allow our community's voice to be stronger and finally heard. We aim to empower people who identify as East or Southeast Asian and also educate people on how to be better allies. We will work with local organisations and government to help change policies to make this society more inclusive. We also aim to celebrate our diversity within this community and we will do this by sharing our experiences and our cultures, and embrace being different!
