OUR LEADERS
Committed to the Cause
FEIYA HU
Co-Founder
Feiya is British-Chinese and grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland where she also went to university, during which she co-founded Racism Unmasked Informed. She now works full-time as an NHS doctor and is based in London.
Feiya has appeared on anti-racism documentaries such as BBC Panorama and Channel Asia, and has had appearances on various podcasts since the group's conception.
She is passionate about sharing ESEA joy and culture and in her spare time she likes to travel and eat different foods from around the world.
ALLIE DE LACY
Co-Founder
Allie de Lacy is one of the co-founders of RU Informed, and has spent the past 9 years working in activism, fighting for social justice in regards to racism, gender based violence and sexual violence. Allie is based in Edinburgh, and is involved in networking with other Scottish-based organisations, as well as community outreach. Allie has performed public speaking with organisations such as TEDx and delivered advocacy and awareness workshops, alongside fellow co-founder, Feiya.
AILEEN LEES
Secretary
Aileen is British and Thai, and is based in Perthshire. She is focused on connecting ESEA people and building communities as she has found that “finding your people” can be difficult if you have grown up, worked and lived in predominantly white environments. Aileen is also an active member of the organisation ESEA Outdoors, where she organises walks and activities for ESEA people across Scotland.
Aileen has a professional background in advocacy and has led successful campaigns on behalf of consumer organisations. She has also brought a focus on discrimination and anti-racism in her work with organisations.
When she is not hiking or getting involved with wildlife conservation work, Aileen can be found reading the latest title of the RU Informed book club.
CAN TAO
Events Officer, Book Club Leader
Can is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh and has been an active member of RU Informed since 2020. Can currently leads the 'RU Reading' book club and organise social events in Edinburgh. Her participation in the group is guided by the belief that it is crucial to balance the passion for change with personal well-being, promoting inner peace and preventing burnout among activists by balancing the feelings of anger and joy along the process.
CAITRIONA DE LACY
Social Media Management, Welfare Admin Officer
"Being a good ally to the BAME community is no different to being a good friend."
REN (JESS) (THEY/THEM)
Fundraising Officer
Hello! I've been an RU member since 2021, and am currently working on recruitment planning and future fundraising initiatives.
Following three years volunteering experience with UoE in their sociology department, I wanted to find a way to apply my experince with event planning to an organisation with social impact, and have organised three events with RU so far; two movie nights and a wellbeing event.
I'm currently working in consultancy, specialising in the legal application of social theory and dispute resolution. This familiarity with mitigation and research comes in useful when navigating the difficult topics and conversations that come up in activism, and I strive to apply the knowledge from my professional life to community outreach and learning.
