Growing up here I have experienced a lot of racism. In primary school it was kids making fun of my packed lunches and pulling their eyes at me, high school was full of Asian jokes and microaggressions and having my hard work undermined, and as an adult in university I often don't get taken seriously, or included in things. People turn a blind eye when I talk about my experiences to racism or they tell me to lighten up and move on as if it's my fault. The pandemic has really taken a toll on me with the racism I received as a result, and now I feel anxious whenever I have to leave the house.
